Organic psychiatry is the study of diseases whose signs and symptoms may mimic psychiatric presentations - many of these may find themselves on psychiatric wards or referred to psychiatric services. You should be familiar with the psychiatric presentations of thyroid disease but there are many many other physical causes to be at least aware of.
